Some new Impressions around LaColombiere
It was all happening yesterday in St. Laurent du Verdon. The 28th Ralley National de Haute Provence came right through our sleepy village. Roaring engines, flying dust and lots of onlookers on the side of the road. Naturally cameras were clicking away at this spectacle!
A new lavender field has been planted right behind La Colombiere du Chateau and with this the view of our room L'Olivier will be spectacular in the years to come. Olive groove and a lavender field, how good can it get :-D
Our private vegetable supplier! Tom's Dad supplies us with all kinds of vegetables and best of it, it is all organic and
of course seasonal !
Saturday is Market Day in Riez. A local village about 15 minutes by car from Saint Laurent du Verdon. This is the time and place where we stock up on the local produce! Of course there are many treats to be found from local producers; different kinds of honey, eggs, fresh goat cheese and sausages of all kinds. Even the fishmonger comes to sell his fresh catch of the day from the coast!
After this mouthwatering excursions through the food market, there are also stalls which sell their handicrafts, jewellry and many more curiosities :-D
Before or after all this excitment, what better way to enjoy the ongoings of the market life with a fresh croissant and a coffee at one of the many bistros of Riez.
See you there soon!
Finally it looks like spring is also coming to the Provence! The sun is out, the temperatures are rising and therefore it is time to plant the flowers!
Flowers of all kinds, lavender and of course a herb garden will await your eyes and taste buds once you are here ;-D
Despite all weather forecasts the easter bunny could deliver the eggs in bright sunshine!
Wishing you all a wonderful easter weekend with friends & family and we hope next year we'll see you at La Colombiere in the sun ;-D
The Fleamarket season has finally started again! With warm temperatures and a sunny sky it was a successful morning, which brought happy smiles on several faces!
Maybe next time something will be waiting for you on one of these markets?
....but don't worry it is on the way.......for sure :-)
Did you know that 1 1/2 hours away from La Colombiere you find a fantastic ski area with 180 km of tracks. You can cross three valleys on skies or snowboard and be back at your starting point right in time for a round of apres ski!
The area between Val d’Allos and Pra Loup offers all kinds of slopes with 53 different lifts for beginners as well as advanced. A different way to explore the Alpes de Haute Provence don’t you think?
Finally the day has arrived. Today we have signed the dotted line and “La Colombiere du Chateau” now bears our name :-D
Our official opening will be 15th March 2013 and until then there is still some work for us to do to give La Colombiere our personal touches!
As you can imagine we are very much excited and are looking forward to showing you our new home in person.
However until then we will keep you up to date with lots of news online.
See you hopefully soon and sunny greetings from St. Laurent du Verdon
