Location
While you may not want to leave the splendid rural isolation of Nettle and Dock, it is superbly positioned for exploring the whole of Devon and North Cornwall. With Dartmoor on your doorstep and both north and south Devon coasts less than an hour away, if you get bored of relaxing you won’t be short of trip or two.
The gateway to Dartmoor National Park, lies just 8 miles away. In Dartmoor you can spend days exploring the idyllic little towns and villages, walking up dramatic Tors, kayaking on wild rivers, horse riding or walking along meandering streams.
Go for lunch in one of the many Gastro pubs in the close-by, ancient Stannery town of Chagford or enjoy a traditional Devon Cream tea, after visiting our nearest National Trust Castle Drogo.
Head north to visit the gardens of RHS Rosemoor (35 minutes away), or carry on a little further to the rugged North Devon coast, where you can walk for miles along sandy beaches, surf or follow the coastal path along the rocky cliffs.
Exeter, our nearest city, is well worth a visit. Abundant with shops and restaurants, its Quay is lovely in the summer where you can have lunch, paddle board, canoe or walk along the locks. Just out of Exeter making your way down the river Exe you reach the south coast. South Devon has calm, quiet coves and from here you can easily reach the Jurassic coast for a spot of fossil hunting.
