About La Colombiere du Chateau

The first time we stumbled across “La Colombiere” it was love at first sight.  Nothing fancy, but an old traditional building with a long and fascinating history located behind the Chateau de Saint Laurent du Verdon.

Its  traditional architecture with its thick walls and enchanting little courtyards carried the promise of a cozy and memorable refuge for travellers and tourists alike.

Having a well cared for Chateau right in front of us, and a beautiful lake in walking distance further provides us with a beautiful surrounding. Not to mention the lavender fields and olive groves surrounding the property.

Here at “La Colombiere” we strive to provide a clean and comfortable sanctuary where people from all corners of the world can meet and enjoy our hospitality and the magical landscape of the “Haute Provence”.

Location

We might be a little bit off the beaten track, but should you decide to explore the Haute-Provence you will soon realise that nothing is really too far from us.

The famous Natural Park and “Gorge du Verdon” lie not far to the North. In fact the river Verdon runs just one kilometre past our house providing us with several small lakes that are nowhere near as crowded as the bigger ones

The Park du Verdon invites to be explored either on foot, mountain bike, paraglider or by car, just to name a few.

Heading towards the canyon you will skirt the incredibly turquoise Lac Saint Croix before arriving in  Moustier Saint Marie. Classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France it is famous for its local porcelain painting (faience) and is situated not far from the mouth of the famous canyon “Gorge du Verdon”.

Heading South from us you will suddenly find yourself in a different landscape altogether, dotted with numerous vineyards and their domains inviting you to taste the local vintage. The “Cote d’Azur “ is just 90 minutes away
Going West and  before arriving in the “other Provence”, the Luberon, traditional villages such as Esparron, Saint Martin de Brome and Greoux les Bains await you.

Wether you prefer to go far, enjoy a leisure lunch in one of the nearby villages or just stroll across a colourful local markets, once you are done exploring you will appreciate the peace and quiet that awaits you back at “La Colombiere”.
